As a Venetian, I have always envied those who come to Venice for the first time. i imagine that the person is immediately catapulted into another dimension. The pace of time changes, slows down. One can get lost, walking slowly through its calli, admiring the marvelous palaces, churches and houses that gently reflect in the calm waters of its canals, stepping on the stones called "Masegni" each one different from the other that tell the thousand-year history of Venice.
It is the most romantic place in the world but even better when no one is around.
